The Carbon Levy....the bad news
From May 1st 2010 – the new carbon tax will result in a price increase of Kerosene (Heating Oil) by 4.3 cent a litre including VAT. This will mean an extra €43 Euro on 1000 litres – which is an increase of about 6.5%
Natural gas prices will rise by €0.00307 per kWh consumed. With the average annual gas usage in Ireland around 25000 Kwh – this will mean an increase of around €76 a year on the average gas bill. (About 7%).

Well there has never been a better time to improve your home with grant assistance through the Better Energy Scheme. This scheme offers a grant of €80 towards a mandatory Building Energy Rating (Home Energy Audit).
Our Home Energy Audit will help you get the most out of the Better Energy Scheme, highlighting what improvement works will see the greatest return for your investment. What does a Home Energy Audit involve?
The Home Energy Audit is a comprehensive survey of the energy efficiency of your home. We check insulation levels in the walls and roof, condition of the windows, controls on the heating system and the boiler/heating appliance itself, secondary heating systems, lighting, ventilation controls, areas in need of draught proofing and sealing and suitability of the dwelling for renewables.
Once we have accessed your home, we will complete a comprehensive, customised report, along with an Building Energy Rating Certificate. We will return to your home and talk you through the report to ensure you are completely informed when it comes to making energy efficiency improvements to your home. We tell you all the things the sales people don't!
Whn you have completed the home improvements, we will return once again to inspect the improvements. We will then issue you with a new updated Building Energy Rating Certificate which is valid for 10 years. We are only a phone call away at any point should you need further assistance.
