GREEN THINKING!

Cutting Carbon, Cutting Costs.

Are you ready for the new Carbon Levy on home heating fuels?

Building a New Home

Good to know... All new homes being built (even self-build) require a BER Certificate before 1st occupation.

Good to know... If you are building a house now you need to comply with 2008 Part L of the building regulations

Do you want to build an energy efficient home?

Not only can we provide BER certification, but we advise clients on the specification of the house to ensure they achieve the best rating they can afford and of utmost importance that they meet the new building regulations.

Do you want impartial advice on insulation, heating systems, renewables, etc?

Timberframe vs. block build, geothermal heating vs. wood pellet, double glazing vs. triple glazing, underfloor heating vs. radiators.....Building a new home is probably one of the biggest investments you will make and you want to get things right. Why not seek out some impartial advice to help ensure you are making the right decisions. A small investment now, will reap substantial long term saving.

Once you book a consultation, we will sit down with you to find out your aims for the self build project. We take time to understand how you will use the house when it is built and what you would like to incorporate into the house build (i.e. perhaps underfloor heating). We will then compile a report covering the following:

 Build types – i.e. timber frame, masonry, Insulated Concrete Floor, etc.
 Insulation – best types and optimal levels of insulation
 A comparison of running costs for various heating systems
 Glazing and doors
 Lighting – latest low energy lighting products
 Space and Water Heating – the most efficient heating systems and controls
 Secondary heating systems – stoves, open fires, high efficiency gas fires etc.
 Ventilation – most efficient ventilation systems and dwelling air tightness
 Renewable Technologies – heat pumps, pellet boilers, solar water heating, photovoltaic panels, wind
  turbines
 Compliance with 2008 Part L Conservation of fuel and energy
 Limiting thermal bridging
 An estimate of the final Building Energy Rating

Once the report is completed, we will sit down with you once again to go through the report in detail to ensure all of the detail is clear to you. We offer continuous phone and email support throughout your house build should you have any queries in relation to the energy performance of the house,

Good to know... We can check compliance with 2008 Part L before you build with a provisional specification
